Hero's Ark — Privacy Policy

1.Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information Shadow Lights Entertainment ("we," "us," "our") collects when you play Hero's Ark ("the Game," "the Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. Hero's Ark is designed to collect only what is needed to run the Game.

By using the Service, you agree to this Policy and to our Terms of Service.

2.Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Account information: your email address and password (your password is stored only in securely hashed form by our authentication provider — we never see or store it in plain text).
• In-game content: character names, kingdom names, and any other text you enter into the Game. Note that character and kingdom names are visible to other players as part of the shared game world.

Information generated by playing

• Gameplay data: your characters, levels, inventory, resources, buildings, troops, map positions, battles, and other game-state data required to operate a persistent online world.

Information collected automatically

• Technical logs: our hosting and database provider automatically records standard technical information when your browser communicates with our servers, such as IP address, browser type, and request timestamps. We use these logs for security, debugging, and abuse prevention.
• Local storage: the Game stores a session token and basic preferences in your browser's local storage so you can stay signed in.
• Advertising measurement: our pages include Google Ads conversion tracking (gtag.js). If you arrived from one of our ads, Google may set cookies or similar identifiers to record that the visit led to a sign-up, so we can measure which ads work. This is used for measurement and does not affect your gameplay. You can opt out via Google Ads Settings, and Google's own handling of this data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

We do not knowingly collect payment information, precise location, or biometric data. Apart from the Google Ads conversion measurement described above, the Game contains no advertising or profiling trackers, and no ads are shown inside the Game itself.

3.How We Use Your Information

• To create and secure your account and authenticate you when you sign in.
• To operate the Game: saving your progress, rendering the shared world, and enabling interaction between players.
• To maintain the integrity of the Game: detecting cheating, exploits, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.
• To fix bugs, diagnose problems, and improve the Service.
• To communicate with you about your account or important changes to the Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to target third-party advertising at you. We use Google Ads conversion measurement only to understand which of our own adverts bring players to the Game.

4.Where Your Data Lives

Game data and account information are stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, on infrastructure located in the United States. Supabase processes this data on our behalf under its own security and privacy commitments. If you access the Game from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

5.How We Share Information

We share information only in these circumstances:

• With other players: your character name, kingdom, and in-game activity are visible to other players as an inherent part of a multiplayer world. Your email address is never shown to other players.
• With service providers: infrastructure providers (such as Supabase) that host the Game and process data solely on our behalf, and Google, which receives conversion-measurement data from our advertising tag as described above.
• For legal reasons: if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of the Service, our players, or others.
• Business transfers: if the Game or Shadow Lights Entertainment is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

6.Data Retention

We retain your account and gameplay data for as long as your account exists, because it is required to operate a persistent game world. Technical logs are retained for a limited period for security and debugging purposes. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security, or anti-abuse purposes.

7.Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR in the EU/UK and the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to:

• Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate information.
• Delete your account and personal information.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Receive your data in a portable format.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@herosark.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

8.Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and database access controls that restrict what each player's session can read and modify. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a strong, unique password for your account.

9.Children

Hero's Ark is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete the account and its associated data.

10.Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and may notify you in-game or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
